The short version: TraitView keeps only what it needs to link your wallet to your Discord, give you your roles and send your alerts. It never asks for your seed phrase, private key or any password, and verifying a wallet never needs a transaction.
What TraitView stores
- Your Discord account ID and username, when you verify a wallet, sign in, or use the TraitView bot.
- The wallet addresses you verify. Depending on the way you choose, a free signed message, a short code you put in your OpenSea bio, or a code from the TraitView bot in Discord shows the wallet is yours. Nothing is ever sent from your wallet.
- Which servers you verified in, so each server's bot can give you the roles for what you hold.
- Your alert settings and the devices you turned notifications on for, so alerts reach every device you linked. Turning a device off removes it.
- Server settings for server owners and admins: channels, roles, alerts and the new-member check, plus whether each new member passed that check.
- Public blockchain data about the collections on TraitView: tokens, traits, owners, transfers, sales and listings. This is already public on the blockchain and on marketplaces.
What TraitView never asks for
- Your seed phrase, recovery phrase or private key.
- Your Discord password or your email.
- Any payment or transaction to verify.
If anything claiming to be TraitView asks for one of these, it isn't TraitView.
Who can see what
- Server admins of a server where you verified can see your verified wallets for that server (for example with /whois or the dashboard's Members tab), so they can check holder roles.
- Everyone can see public on-chain data, such as which wallet holds a token, just as they can on a marketplace or a block explorer.
- Your Discord link, alert settings and devices aren't shown to anyone else.
Services TraitView uses
Discord (sign-in and the bot), OpenSea and Alchemy (collection, listing and sales data), Cloudflare (the website) and Railway (the servers and database). They handle data as needed to run those parts.
On your device
The website keeps a few things in your browser's own storage: your theme and view choices, a copy of collection data so pages open faster, and your sign-in. Clearing your browser's site data removes them.
Removing your data
- Yourself, any time: in Discord use /me, then Wallet, then Manage wallets. On the website open Your TraitView, then the Account tab. You can remove one wallet, remove all of them, or wipe everything: your wallets, your verification and roles in every server, your alerts, your notification devices and your sign-ins.
- In one server: that server's admins can clear your verification with /resetverify. That removes your verification there and the roles it gave you.
A removed wallet can be added back to the same Discord account any time. To stop one wallet being passed between accounts, it can't be verified on a different Discord account for 3 days after it's removed.
